Mourinho on whether Tottenham will sign Zlatan Ibrahimovic

Jose Mourinho has given his opinion on the possibility of Zlatan Ibrahimovic joining Tottenham Hotspur.

The 38-year-old forward has recently ended his time with LA Galaxy and is expected to return to European football.

Mourinho brought the Swedish superstar to Old Trafford and was asked during the press conference at Hotspur Way ahead of Tottenham’s Champions League clash against Olympiacos about the striker.

Ibrahimovic had an impressive goalscoring record at United having found the back of the net 26 times in just 46 appearances (ESPN).

The head coach dismissed the speculation of a reunion with Ibrahimovic by insisting that there is no requirement for his services when he already has Harry Kane to rely on.

Tottenham have not recruited an additional striker to provide cover for Kane following the double summer departure of Vincent Janssen and Fernando Llorente.

Kane will be looking to fire Spurs into the knockout stages tomorrow evening with victory over their Greek opponents.

Mourinho said to Football.London: “You are right about the connection. I would say we have one of the top strikers in England. It doesn’t make any sense of a striker of Zlatan’s dimension to come to a club where we have Harry Kane.”
