Newcastle clamp down on Tottenham fans seeking tickets

Tottenham fans have been warned they could be thrown out of St James’ Park if they buy tickets in the home stands for the club’s potentially decisive final game of the season.

All the away seats for the game on May 15 have already been snapped up and the Magpies have announced there will be no general sale after already turning away Barclays Premier League title-chasing Spurs supporters on security grounds.

Steve Storey, Newcastle’s head of safety and security, told the club’s official website, www.nufc.co.uk: “Away tickets have sold out for this game and we are aware that a number of Tottenham fans have attempted to purchase tickets in home areas.

“This is contrary to Premier League ground regulations and I must stress that away fans found to be in home seated areas will face the risk of being ejected from the stadium.

“Accordingly, tickets for this game will be restricted to Newcastle United members who have previously bought tickets through the club’s box office.”

Spurs currently sit in second place, five points behind leaders Leicester with four games remaining, while Newcastle are two points from safety at the other end of the table.
