Paul Merson on whether Spurs’ hopes of silverware will end at Crystal Palace

Tottenham Hotspur are back in domestic cup action once again on Sunday when they face Crystal Palace in the fourth round of the FA Cup.

Sky Sports football pundit Paul Merson has shared his prediction on whether he believes that Spurs can keep their hopes of winning silverware this season alive.

Many believe that following Tottenham’s Carabao Cup exit on Thursday night at the hands of Chelsea, the FA Cup represents Mauricio Pochettino’s best chance of ending an eleven-year wait for a trophy to be won by the club.

Spurs will be once again without the attacking trio of Harry Kane, Heung-min Son and Dele Alli for the trip to Selhurst Park. Mauricio Pochettino is likely to make changes to the side that lost against Chelsea to try and keep his players fresh.

Merson believes that Tottenham will come away from the match with a narrow win to book their place in the draw for the fifth round of the competition.

He told Sky Sports: “What a massive game for Tottenham. Their season is in the balance. If they lose this then they are out of everything as I do not see them winning the Champions League after how they played at Chelsea. Their squad is not strong enough. This is a really tough one to predict as you don’t know how strong Roy Hodgson will go. They have got such a big game at Southampton in midweek.

“Prediction: 0-2.”
