Roman Pavlyuchenko’s hopes of securing a move away from Tottenham this transfer window have been hit by a groin strain that requires a scan.

Pavlyuchenko is still keen on leaving Spurs, despite coming off the bench and scoring against Leeds at the weekend, with Lokomotiv Moscow claiming the Russian wants to join them.

Despite finally being used from the bench, the forward doesn’t believe he will get a fair crack of the whip at Spurs and still wants out.

He told Sport Express newspaper, “I’ve already heard lots of times from Redknapp that I’m going to play, but I still remain sitting on the bench.

“I don’t think that goal will change anything. in any case, I hope it doesn’t stop me leaving Tottenham.”

Harry Redknapp is unsure whether Pavlyuchenko will leave before the window slams shut, as Spurs are yet to receive any offers for the Russian that have been remotely acceptable.

Redknapp said, “Pavlyuchenko has picked up a groin strain and I don’t know whether he will be fit. He’s gone for a scan to see if there is any damage there.

“When he wants to work and play, he is a top-class footballer. On Saturday, I was delighted with him but unfortunately he’s picked up a groin injury, but that’s the way it’s been.

“His people have been trying to move him for a while, but we want him to stay. Unless we get the right offer, he will be staying and he is part of the plans while he’s here.”
