Plane problem means Redknapp misses flight

Tottenham manager Harry Redknapp will miss his side’s Barclays Premier League match at Liverpool tonight after his flight from London was grounded.

Redknapp made the dash from London’s Southwark Crown Court, where he has been for the last few days facing two charges of cheating the public revenue, to City airport late this afternoon to catch a flight to Merseyside.

However, Press Association Sport understands a technical problem with the plane meant it was unable to take off.

Arrangements were made to obtain a second aircraft but there were issues with scheduling a take-off slot which would have meant the Spurs boss would not have arrived in time for kick-off at Anfield.

Redknapp, who denies the court charges against him, therefore decided to stay in the south and watch the match on television.
