PLAYER RATINGS: Tottenham 1-0 Crystal Palace

A goal from Heung-min Son proved to be enough for Tottenham Hotspur to beat Crystal Palace but it was a far from convincing display.

Dele Alli, Toby Alderweireld and Hugo Lloris were all ruled out through injury as Mauricio Pochettino was forced to shuffle his team and we frankly looked lost in the final third.

If it weren’t for debutant keeper Paulo Gazzaniga who produced a handful of impressive saves, it could have been a completely different result for Tottenham.

Both sides pressed each other hard which during the first half meant chances were few and far between in the first half hour of play, the best chance coming to Danny Rose who failed to get his header on target.

The second half did open up slightly and Tottenham managed to break the deadlock on 63 minutes when Heung-min Son curled the ball into the near post to calm the nerves of the home fans.

Son had a couple of other chances to extend Tottenham’s lead but failed to show a lack of composure on both occasions.
