Player Ratings vs Hull City

Wilson Palacios - Header

Gomes (7) – Very little to do.

Corluka (7) – Spent a lot of time forward with space in front of him but often with little help as Modric performed his wandering minstrel act.

Dawson (8) – Excellent yet again. One heart stopping moment in the second half when he nearly let Hunt in was redeemed with a tackle of Ledleylike swiftness & strength. Never looked intimidated physically.

Bassong (7) – Didn’t look as comfortable with Fagan’s constant niggling & shoving as Dawson but overall did well.

Bale (8) – Excellent defensively and also going forward showing pace and imagination. Linked well with Kranjcar.

Modric (7) – Flitted in and out. Lots of trickiness, unlucky with a couple of efforts on goal.

Huddlestone (5) – A day to forget. Virtually nothing went right for him, seemed to hide a bit in the second half, lots of balls back to Daws and Bassong.

Palacios (7) – All energy as ever. Missed him the moment he went off.

Kranjcar (6) – Not as effective as he has been but still looked full of skill and ambition. Looked surprisingly strong when holding off the muscular City midfield on a couple of occasions.

Keane (6) – The livelier of the front pairing, but never really inspired optimism. Should’ve done better with second half effort after Modric’s shot.

Defoe (6) – Only one chance, which he hit straight at the keeper. Back to goal for the whole of the rest of the game. Far more involved when Crouch came on.

  1. I’m loving the way Gomes prefers to roll the ball out to defenders rather than pump it long. He definitely gets a 7 yesterday for that alone despite not having a save to make.

5 League clean sheets in a row…is this Tottenham????

    Gomes 7 distribution 1st class
Bale 8 did everything very well
Daws 6 solid, went long too many times, slight concentration slip
Bassong 6 as with Daws, minus the long balls
Corluka 6 did fine but looked sluggish and his crossing was poor
Krancjar 6 didn’t quite have the same sparkle but did OK
Hudd 5 looked pedestrian. lacked ideas, lost concentration
Wilson 6 nothing spectacular. job done for him
Modric 7 more dazzle than most. noone helped his cause much though
Defoe 5 off day. worked hard as ever though
Keane 5 off season. what is wrong with him?

  2. Once again keane was dog awful. No wonder pav is doing his nut having to sit on the bench watching that. Also huddlestone was poor. When will people realise this guy is not the new hoddle.
