Player Ratings vs Hull City

Wilson Palacios - Header

Gomes (7) – Very little to do.

Corluka (7) – Spent a lot of time forward with space in front of him but often with little help as Modric performed his wandering minstrel act.

Dawson (8) – Excellent yet again. One heart stopping moment in the second half when he nearly let Hunt in was redeemed with a tackle of Ledleylike swiftness & strength. Never looked intimidated physically.

Bassong (7) – Didn’t look as comfortable with Fagan’s constant niggling & shoving as Dawson but overall did well.

Bale (8) – Excellent defensively and also going forward showing pace and imagination. Linked well with Kranjcar.

Modric (7) – Flitted in and out. Lots of trickiness, unlucky with a couple of efforts on goal.

Huddlestone (5) – A day to forget. Virtually nothing went right for him, seemed to hide a bit in the second half, lots of balls back to Daws and Bassong.

Palacios (7) – All energy as ever. Missed him the moment he went off.

Kranjcar (6) – Not as effective as he has been but still looked full of skill and ambition. Looked surprisingly strong when holding off the muscular City midfield on a couple of occasions.

Keane (6) – The livelier of the front pairing, but never really inspired optimism. Should’ve done better with second half effort after Modric’s shot.

Defoe (6) – Only one chance, which he hit straight at the keeper. Back to goal for the whole of the rest of the game. Far more involved when Crouch came on.
