Pochettino’s response to reporters on Eriksen’s future at Tottenham

Mauricio Pochettino held a press conference in Amsterdam this afternoon ahead of tomorrow’s Champions League clash against Ajax.

The match sees Christian Eriksen as one of three other Spurs players who could face their former side along with Toby Alderweireld and Jan Vertonghen, while Davinson Sanchez misses out with a thigh injury.

Eriksen’s future at Tottenham has been the focus of plenty of speculation among the media in recent month with frequent reports linking him with a move to Spanish giants Real Madrid (Daily Star).

The Dane has just over twelve months left to run on his current contract in North London with this summer potentially being the last opportunity where Spurs can command a transfer fee for him.

Pochettino was asked whether the 27-year-old’s had already signed for Real Madrid and once again insisted that he would like Eriksen to remain with the club.

Eriksen has been at Spurs since joining the club from Ajax in August 2013 for £11.5million (BBC).

He told Football.London: “Sorry I don’t talk about rumours. This is a player we want to keep. When we talk in London about Frenkie de Jong it’s about a player who has signed. I don’t talk about rumours.”
