Postecoglou explains how Lange and Mackenzie will help with ‘early’ January business

Ange Postecoglou is happy to have Johan Lange and Rob Mackenzie on board to help him ahead of the January transfer market at Tottenham.

While Tottenham had the chance to put the pressure on their rivals last weekend, having played in the Friday night spot, this week they will have to go last on Monday Night Football.

Mauricio Pochettino’s Chelsea visit the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, the Argentine’s first return to his old stomping ground since taking charge of Spurs’ bitter London rivals.

However, there is quite a gap between Spurs and Chelsea so far this season. A win for Tottenham would increase it to 17 points, while a victory for the Blues would still leave an 11-point margin.

Spurs and Arsenal are now the only unbeaten sides left in the top flight, and Tottenham will not want to lose that badge of honour at the hands of Chelsea.

It has been a time for growth away from the pitch of late for Spurs too, with Johan Lange and Rob Mackenzie both joining from Aston Villa as Tottenham’s new Technical Director and Chief Scout respectively.

Postecoglou said (Football London): “I’ve caught up with Johan but nothing too formal. I don’t have the attention span for long meetings, it tends to be casual chats, so yeah good thing is he is in the building and interacting with the right people.

“The bit with me is the easy bit, but setting up the structure to get the department working how he wants. Rob joining will help that. Important they come in now and the January window is an important one.

“My view is if you get business done early it is more helpful because if you leave it until the end then you can miss the opportunity of what you are trying to gain.”

Spurs Web Opinion:

In a matter of six months, Tottenham Hotspur has dramatically changed from top to bottom, and we are already reaping the rewards of that. I can only imagine where the club will be in 12 months’ time if they stick with this plan.
