‘Probably got offered a role for their rivals’ – Some fans react to Sol Campbell announcement

Earlier today, it was announced that Sol Campbell has left League Two side Macclesfield Town by mutual consent after eight months in charge.

He was said to have become frustrated by the financial constraints at Moss Rose and has now parted company (The Times).

The 44-year-old is still viewed as a figure of hate among large pockets of the Tottenham Hotspur support (including this writer) after he turned his back on the club.

Campbell, who came through the club’s academy was adored by the White Hart Lane faithful before he did the unthinkable.

Despite promising to sign a new contract at Tottenham (Daily Mail) and insisting he was going nowhere, he rejected the offer (Telegraph) and left the club on a free transfer to join North London rivals Arsenal.

The self-proclaimed ‘one of the greatest minds in football’ (Arsenal podcast Highbury & Heels) will no doubt be on the lookout for his next appointment.

Spurs fans have taken the opportunity to stick the boot into the man they affectionately refer to as Judas.
