Pundit predicts reported Spurs and West Ham target may be worth £25m

Former West Ham United player Valon Behrami has been speaking to TuttoMercatoWeb about Sassuolo star Davide Frattesi and has indicated the Italian star could command a fee of up to £25 million amid interest from Premier League clubs.

Frattesi came through the Lazio academy and the AS Roma youth setup before joining Sassuolo in the summer of 2017. The creative midfielder spent time on loan at Ascoli, Empoli, and Monza, before making his breakthrough with Sassuolo in the 2021/22 season.

This season, the 23-year-old has bagged five goals for the Serie A side so far (Transfermarkt), making him the second-highest-scoring midfielder in the league. His talents have not gone unnoticed, and Frattesi has been attracting interest from England over the last few months.

Sassuolo News reported back in October 2022 that Spurs had been taking a look at Frattesi, but a report from TuttoMercatoWeb claimed the player’s club were not going to entertain any offers for their star man until the summer.

According to Sassuolo CEO Giovanni Carnevali in a chat with Sky Sport Italia (as relayed by Fabrizio Romano), Premier League clubs had made their move for Frattesi during the January transfer window, but no move materialised at that time.

How long Frattesi stays with Sassuolo remains to be seen, but it is thought Tottenham are joined by Brighton and West Ham on his list of admirers (TuttoMercatoWeb). Now, former Hammers star Behrami has explained how much he thinks it would cost to secure Frattesi’s signature.

He said: “As far as he has shown, he can be worth £25 million. I’d see him well at Inter if Barella weren’t there. But, for the Italian clubs, it would be a big investment.”

Spurs Web Opinion

It is well known that Tottenham Hotspur are looking for a creative midfielder and £25 million is not a bad price for a talented young player like Frattesi. We’ve had success exploring the Italian market of late, and I wouldn’t be surprised to see us look there again in the summer.
