Rafael van der Vaart reveals he has text Daniel Levy to sign winger

Rafael van der Vaart has revealed that he sent Tottenham Hotspur chairman Daniel Levy a text message urging him to sign Hakim Ziyech.

The 26-year-old plays for another of van der Vaart’s former clubs, Ajax and scored a beautiful goal against Tottenham in the semi-final second leg of the Champions League.

Van der Vaart believes that the winger would be a valuable addition to the playing squad in North London and has suggested that Levy makes his move for the Morocco international during next summer’s transfer window.

Spurs continue to struggle for creativity in the final third of the pitch, especially from wide areas.

Ziyech took his goal tally to the season to five goals in ten appearances in the Dutch top flight for the current campaign after scoring in the 4-0 win against rivals Feyenoord yesterday afternoon (Sky Sports).

“I really hope he goes to Tottenham Hotspur, I sent a message today to [Daniel] Levy, I said: Get Ziyech after this season,” Van der Vaart told Voetbal Primeur.

“I am convinced that he becomes a sensation in London, and I also wish him that.

“I hope Spurs takes him and we will see.”

Opinion

With Christian Eriksen in the final year of his contract and looking ever increasingly that he will leave the club, the recruitment of Ziyech would certainly help to soften the blow.
