Rafael van der Vaart has revealed that he sent Tottenham Hotspur chairman Daniel Levy a text message urging him to sign Hakim Ziyech.

The 26-year-old plays for another of van der Vaart’s former clubs, Ajax and scored a beautiful goal against Tottenham in the semi-final second leg of the Champions League.

Van der Vaart believes that the winger would be a valuable addition to the playing squad in North London and has suggested that Levy makes his move for the Morocco international during next summer’s transfer window.

Spurs continue to struggle for creativity in the final third of the pitch, especially from wide areas.

Ziyech took his goal tally to the season to five goals in ten appearances in the Dutch top flight for the current campaign after scoring in the 4-0 win against rivals Feyenoord yesterday afternoon (Sky Sports).

“I really hope he goes to Tottenham Hotspur, I sent a message today to [Daniel] Levy, I said: Get Ziyech after this season,” Van der Vaart told Voetbal Primeur.

“I am convinced that he becomes a sensation in London, and I also wish him that.

“I hope Spurs takes him and we will see.”

With Christian Eriksen in the final year of his contract and looking ever increasingly that he will leave the club, the recruitment of Ziyech would certainly help to soften the blow.

Have something to tell us about this article?

  1. As a Tottenham supporter for over forty years I have suffered many downs and ups. It has became clear that this present administration are built solely on money first success well sometime maybe. The club is run on a sixpence as far as buying players are concerned however when it comes to the chairman and the board well now money is no problem. We call ourselves a big club but based on what. So if we who have won nothing for over ten years are a big club where does that put Leicester. Oh yes I hear supporters shout I am not worried about other clubs but that is a typical head in the sand attitude. Truth is we are a club who win nothing make lots of money and screw our fans over for the sake of the owner, the chairman and the board.

  2. Ha this does not come close we need another keeper, left and right backs, two new centre halfs, a holding midfielder and a striker. That is the minimum we need to even try to get back at a chance of a top four place and that is working on Kane and Son staying which I would say on current form is very unlikely. They want success in the form of winning things not money and at the moment we have no chance with Levy, the board and poch who looks like a rabbit in headlights.

  3. I agree. for sure, that Eriksen seems to have lost all of his ability (doing a ModRat maybe?). BUT, Erio\ksen has been “off” for quite a while now. Why do we keep having Eriksen take corners? He rarely seems to get past the first defender (and that has been for years now!).
