Harry Redknapp has called for more of the same from David Bentley after the Spurs winger impressed during the 2-0 win against Everton.

The England international was given a rare start in the Carling Cup tie at the Lane and made the most of the chance and could have played his way into Redknapp’s side for the north London derby against Arsenal on Saturday if Aaron Lennon fails to recover from an ankle injury.

“He’s got to play like that and put that effort in,” Redknapp said. “Aaron has played so well, he’s not had the opportunity.

“His attitude was not as good in training as it could be and I spoke to him about that. He accepts that and is determined to put that right. Maybe he didn’t see light at the end of the tunnel.

“But he’s a decent boy and was very good against Everton, I was really pleased. We all saw him as a kid at Arsenal and when he went on loan from there. When he plays like that he’s a good player”
