Gallagher, who has one year left on his deal at Chelsea, has been tipped to leave Stamford Bridge this summer and a number of outlets over the past few weeks have reported that Tottenham are leading the race to sign the midfielder (Football Insider).

However, a couple of days ago The Telegraph claimed that Villa are set to challenge Spurs for the England international this summer.

The outlet pointed out that the Villans and Chelsea have a strong relationship at the board level, which might potentially facilitate the transfer of the Blues academy graduate to Villa Park.

Aston Villa’s plan to sign Conor Gallagher revealed

The Sun have now revealed the strategy that Unai Emery’s men want to use to land Gallagher.

It is explained that the Midlands club want to include striker Jhon Duran as part of the deal, with the Colombian forward a long-term target for Chelsea.

Villa are said to be hoping that this gives them an advantage over Spurs while the offer of Champions League football also aids them in convincing the player to join them.

Spurs Web Opinion

While Villa do have a potential advantage since they are in the Champions League, I am not convinced that it would make them a more attractive destination than Spurs.

Tottenham would offer Gallagher a chance to remain in London and Postecoglou should be able to convince the 24-year-old that he would thrive in his system.
