Report: Club pull the plug on their interest in striker linked with Spurs

Tottenham Hotspur were left without an out and out striker to provide cover for Harry Kane this summer.

The departures of Vincent Janssen and Fernando Llorente have left Mauricio Pochettino’s side vulnerable if their star man gets injured or goes through a barren spell in front of goal.

Spurs chief scout Steve Hitchen was said to have recently travelled to South America to watch Gremio forward Everton Soares in their Copa Libertadores semi-final first-leg against Flamengo (Sky Sports).

Italian news outlet Calcio Mercato are reporting that AC Milan have decided to pull the plug on a potential deal for the Brazilian international in the upcoming January transfer window.

Soares signed a new deal with Gremio last month which is said to have increased his transfer release clause to €120million which has left Milan taking a back seat until next summer at least.

The Brazilian domestic season finishes ahead of the January transfer window and it remains to be seen whether Spurs are prepared to make their move,
