Report: Club put whopping £70m price tags on two Tottenham targets

The print edition of O Jogo (as relayed by Sport Witness) has revealed that it would take huge bids for Tottenham to be able to sign either one of Marcus Edwards or Pedro Goncalves from Sporting Lisbon in January.

A couple of days ago, we relayed a report from 90 min, which revealed that Spurs have been scouting both Edwards and Goncalves this season.

The outlet explained that Tottenham have a good relationship with Sporting after negotiating the Pedro Porro deal back in January, and could use that to their favour in striking deals for one or both of the aforementioned attackers.

Huge price tags for Marcus Edwards and Goncalves

O Jogo have now also confirmed Tottenham’s interest in the Sporting pair, revealing that the North London club sent their scouts to the Lisbon derby to watch the pair in action.

The report points out that Spurs have a 35 per cent sell-on clause on Edwards. However, it is asserted that even though the winger has a release clause of €60m (£52.2m), Sporting want to raise €80m (£70m) from his sale.

The publication adds that Goncalves’ release clause is worth €80m (£70m) and the pursuit of the 25-year-old will prove ‘complicated’ as many other clubs are also interested in the player.

Spurs Web Opinion

Sporting made the Porro negotiations very difficult, even allegedly changing the goalposts at the last moment and making Tottenham pay more. So, I am not sure Levy and the Spurs hierarchy would be too keen on doing business with the Portuguese club again.
