Report: Details explained as Tottenham launch a fan advisory board

Tottenham Hotspur have announced the launch of a new Fan Advisory Board in an attempt to encourage ‘fan engagement’ and ensure there is a focus on ‘wide representation for supporters.’

It’s fair to say the relationship between the supporters and the club is not at its best right now. Fans have been left frustrated by poor results and performances from the team, and a perceived lack of ambition and investment from the club’s board.

Levy and the board have come under heavy criticism all season, with ongoing protests against the chairman and the ENIC group over their ownership of the club (Football.London).

The tensions around the club hit a new low on Sunday afternoon, when Tottenham were crushed 6-1 by rivals Newcastle United.

The result saw Cristian Stellini lose his job as interim manager, and leaves Spurs’ chances of sealing a spot in the top four in tatters.

Now, it seems the club is making progress to bridge the relationship with its fans with the new Fan Advisory Board (FAB).

The board will be made up of supporters from different groups within the Tottenham community to ensure diversity, while elections will be held to choose applicants from a shortlist.

The announcement reveals the club has “shaped its FAB during extensive consultation” with various supporters’ trusts.

The FAB is intended to provide a “new forum for elected members from different sections” of the Tottenham fanbase, with an emphasis on diversity and allowing fans to be better informed and involved in club decision-making.

Donna-Maria Cullen Executive Director and Nominated Board Level Official for fan engagement, said: “We are delighted to be announcing the launch of our Fan Advisory Board. It represents a strong and structured forum for fan engagement and more extensive communication with supporters.

“We are proud of the rich diversity that exists amongst our global fanbase and believe the constitution and makeup of the Fan Advisory Board will ensure it reflects this.”

Applications to be on the board are now open.

This, in theory, sounds like a really positive step in repairing the fractured relationship that exists between the club and the supporters right now.

Hopefully the fans will be listened to and we can see the best interests of the club properly adhered to now.
