Report explains Tottenham’s two priorities for the January transfer window

Tottenham Hotspur’s plans for the January transfer window may have been revealed, and it seems a centre-back and an attacker will be the key priorities.

It was a busy summer for Tottenham, as Ange Postecoglou began to shape the squad to his liking with a number of new signings.

This recruitment proved successful, with the likes of James Maddison, Guglielmo Vicario, and Micky van de Ven adapting to life in North London brilliantly.

The Lilywhites are still unbeaten in the league and currently sit at the top of the Premier League table after ten games.

Suffice to say, the squad and their new manager are coping pretty well right now, but there’s always room for improvement. Not to mention, if any key players were to be injured, there could be big issues for Spurs.

What will Spurs do in the January transfer window?

We are getting closer and closer to the January transfer window now, and a report from The Athletic has shed some light on the areas Tottenham may look to improve.

Charlie Eccleshare wrote: “Reinforcements in the centre-back and forward areas — central striker or left-sided — are likely to be targeted. Spurs would also need a replacement for Hojbjerg or Lo Celso should either leave.

“But every position is planned for, to some extent, given so much could happen between now and January. And the final decisions will be made by Lange and Postecoglou once the picture becomes a bit clearer.

“As we’ve seen in the last two January windows, Spurs are not afraid to be bold if the opportunity arises. Bentancur, Kulusevski and Pedro Porro arrived in the last two winters.”

Spurs Web Opinion

I think a new centre-back has to be the top priority. I’m incredibly worried what would happen if Romero or van de Ven were to get injured.
