Report: Harry Kane deals Spurs blow over long-term future

The Times have revealed that Bayern Munich would have to agree to pay around £100m, ideally in one upfront payment for Tottenham Hotspur to consider to sell Harry Kane.

On Tuesday, we relayed an update from The Athletic’s Charlie Eccleshare, in which the journalist suggested that the feeling around the industry is that Spurs would not be prepared to allow Kane to leave on a free transfer next summer when his current contract expires.

Eccleshare stated that if the centre-forward does not sign a new deal this summer, Spurs would hope to sell him for a hefty fee to Bayern Munich.

Kane will not sign a new Tottenham contract

The Times have now claimed that Kane has already decided that he will not be putting pen to paper on a new deal with the North London club since the striker remains keen to make a switch to the Allianz Arena, however, he will not push to leave.

However, it is explained that after turning down two of Bayern Munich‘s previous offers – the second of which was worth £68.5 million plus add-ons – Spurs have made it clear to the Bundesliga champions that they would have to pay around £100m for the England captain.

The report adds that the Lilywhites would ideally want the entire fee in one instalment upfront.

With Kane said to be not prepared to sign a new deal, Spurs now face a ‘difficult decision’ if the German club significantly raise their bid and decide to reinvest the fee into other areas of Ange Postecoglou’s team.

Spurs Web Opinion

Harry Kane would have no reason to give up his leverage by signing a new contract right now, which is why I think Tottenham would have to eventually soften their stance. However, Bayern would likely have to bid at least £95m-£100m to give Levy something to think about.
