Report: Impending manager sacking could impact two Tottenham players

Alfie Devine and Ashley Phillips might potentially find themselves in a tricky situation, with The Telegraph reporting that Plymouth Argyle are now expected to part ways with manager Ian Foster.

Foster only joined Plymouth in January and he was the man who signed the two loanees from Tottenham during the winter transfer window.

The decision has proven to be an astute one for the Championship side, with Phillips playing nearly every single game since making the move and delivering solid displays at both the centre and right of their back three.

The step up from League One to the second tier has not been as smooth as Devine might have hoped, with the attacking midfielder taking his time to settle into his new surroundings.

However, the 18-year-old has still got plenty of game time, having played 12 Championship matches so far, out of which he has started seven (Transfermarkt).

Plymouth Argyle set for a manager change

However, both Phillips and Devine might now be sweating over their prospects of game time, with The Telegraph revealing that the manager who has put his trust in the pair is now on his way out of Home Park Stadium.

The report says after eight defeats in the past 11 games, the Pilgrims have decided to part ways with Foster after just three months in charge.

One would think that Phillips has done well enough over the last couple of months for the new manager to keep faith in the centre-back.

However, Devine’s prospects of game time as well as his position could be heavily influenced by the type of manager that Plymouth replace Foster with.

If the Championship club decide to go for a pragmatic, defensively-minded coach, the Tottenham midfielder might struggle to get too many minutes.
