Report: Man Utd set to bid £50m for long-term Tottenham target

Manchester United are weighing up a £50million offer for Fulham’s Ryan Sessegnon, according to the Daily Express.

Tottenham Hotspur have been long-term admirers of the 18-year-old with the paper claiming that Mauricio Pochettino’s side had a £25million offer rejected shortly after Fulham had secured promotion back to the Premier League.

Their top-flight status is in jeopardy after managing to only win four of their 26 games in the league this season and find themselves in the relegation zone and are seven points adrift from safety.

Sessegnon has not played on a regular basis under new boss Claudio Ranieri after he claimed that the player needs to develop a mean streak to boost Fulham’s Premier League survival fight (Sky Sports).

He was once again named on the bench in yesterday’s 3-0 defeat to Manchester United and only managed nine minutes of game time.

Sessegnon has just 18 months to run on his existing deal at Craven Cottage and could be forced to leave if they drop back into the Championship.

Losing out on such a highly-rated English prospect to a Premier League rival would certainly frustrate most Spurs fans, especially considering the length of time we have been linked with the left-sided player.
