Report: Man Utd star linked with Spurs last summer could be shown the door

Tottenham Hotspur were heavily linked with a move for Manchester United striker Anthony Martial last summer (Express).

The French international was not fully in the plans of then United boss Jose Mourinho but did remain at Old Trafford following the closure of the transfer window.

Daniel Levy even made contact with Red Devils chief Ed Woodward to enquire about his availability but was told that he was not for sale.

The 23-year-old rejected a new contract in October but finally put pen to paper when Ole Gunnar Solskjaer took over by signing a deal until 2024 which is said to be worth £250,000-a-week, with an option of a further year (Sky Sports).

However, reports in today’s Sun are claiming that Solskjaer has been unimpressed with Martial’s attitude in training and could be willing to listen to offers for him in the summer.

Martial last played for United in the 4-0 thrashing at Everton on April 21st and has not been included in the subsequent matchday squads against Manchester City, Chelsea and Huddersfield Town.

There is no doubt that Martial’s pace and eye for goal would provide a welcome boost if he were to join Tottenham. However, his reported salary and likely transfer fee would likely to prove to be a significant stumbling block for Daniel Levy to open his purse strings.
