Report: Mourinho keen on Premier League right-back

Leicester City defender Ricardo Pereira is once again being linked with a potential move to Tottenham Hotspur.

talkSPORT claimed back in May of last year that Spurs failed to beat the Foxes to the signature of the then Porto player who they viewed as a replacement for Kyle Walker.

Belgian news outlet Gazet van Antwerpen claim that Spurs are still keen on the right-back with Jose Mourinho’s side having already expressed an interest in the 26-year-old.

Leicester are said to have identified a possible replacement for Pereira in the form of Royal Antwerp’s Aurelio Buta.

Pereira enjoyed a successful first season with the former Premier League champions after being crowned as their 2018/19 player of the season and the player’s player of the season (Leicester City official).

Spurs struggled earlier in the season to fill the void left by Kieran Tripper, who headed to Atletico Madrid during the summer.

Serge Aurier, Kyle Walker-Peters, Moussa Sissoko and Davinson Sanchez have all at one time this season featured on the right side of defence.

Aurier has featured consistently since the arrival of Mourinho last month and has improved his on-field reliability in recent matches after previously showing he can be a liability when he received a red card during the first half against Southampton earlier this season after picking up two bookings within the space of the opening half hour.
