Report reveals key Spurs detail holding up potential Bryan Gil loan to Valencia

According to AS, Tottenham’s demands of a loan fee for Bryan Gil is the main obstacle towards the winger completing a move to Valencia.

It was reported this week that Gil could return to La Liga on loan, just six months on from signing for Spurs, with Valencia and Real Sociedad both keen on scooping up the winger on a temporary deal (Cadena Ser).

AS have now revealed that Valencia are leading the race to sign the 20-year-old before Monday’s transfer deadline.

It is asserted that the La Liga club are keen to add a winger to their squad and identified Gil as their number one target.

The Tottenham man is said to be keen on moving to the Mestalla as he wants more game time under his belt than he has been given in North London so far this season.

However, Spurs are said to be demanding a loan fee of €1.5m (£1.2m) for the wide man, while also asking the La Liga club to cover a part of the player’s wages.

It is explained that Valencia are reluctant to pay a loan fee and that negotiations between the two clubs are ongoing.

One would expect Gil’s loan move to Valencia to go through before Monday’s transfer deadline as the move suits all parties.

However, with Tottenham’s pursuit of Adama Traore and Luis Diaz on the verge of now collapsing (The Athletic), perhaps the North Londoners might decide to hang on to the 20-year-old as cover.
