Report: Serie A winger said to be on Tottenham’s radar after impressive start in Italy

Tottenham Hotspur hold an interest in Sampdoria left winger Mikkel Damsgaard ahead of a potential summer switch, according to Tuttosport.

The 20-year-old only made the move to the Serie A side last summer for a fee in the region of €6million (£5.4million) from Nordsjaelland.

Damsgaard has started eight games and made a further seven appearances off the bench in the Italian top flight, having scored two goals and provided three assists.

According to the report, Spurs could face competition from German outfit Bayer Leverkusen, but either club may have to pay triple the amount to prise him away from Sampdoria.

Whether Tottenham would actually be prepared to bring in another winger remains to be seen with the club already having plenty of options from out wide including  Steven Bergwijn, Erik Lamela, Lucas Moura and Jack Clarke.

Damsgaard has had an impressive six months in Italy, but Mourinho typically likes to play established first-team players rather than youngsters with potential.
