Report: Sky make claim about Tottenham’s January transfer window

Tottenham Hotspur have appointed Jose Mourinho as their new head coach after sacking Mauricio Pochettino on Tuesday night.

The Portuguese left Manchester United, his most recent post, in December 2018, having won the Europa League and Carabao Cup, but failed to restore the Old Trafford outfit to the former glory they enjoyed under Sir Alex Ferguson.

Sky Sports are reporting that Mourinho has been promised money to spend in the January transfer window should he feel it is necessary.

He is said to believe that the current Spurs squad is strong, but will have transfer funds at his disposal.

Mourinho spent over £400million on eleven players during his time at Manchester United, recruiting the likes of Paul Pogba, Fred, Lee Grant, Alexis Sanchez and Diego Dalot (Mirror).

In July, Jack Clarke became Tottenham’s first signing in over 500 days after failing to sign any fresh faces in the two previous windows under Pochettino.

The Argentine warned of a painful rebuild back in May (Standard) but after a tough start to the new campaign, he was sacked by Daniel Levy (BBC).

  1. Yet again the manager/head coach is blamed by The Chairman for his mistakes. Pochettino was gradually pushed out of the door. Levy held on to the purse strings especially when it came to buying players. Over and over again we lost good players because he wanted to look better than everyone. The money he is paying Mourinho and the severance pay to Pochettino and co would have rectified the problem with the team. Trying to get one on to player’s managers does not work It shows in the attitude of the players that are going to hang on to the end of their contract so the can leave on a free, and up you Levy again you have cost the club a load of money due to your stubbornness. Your day should have been numbered as the club chairman a few years ago when we went through several managers in a considerable short time. You showed your color when you awarded yourself a hefty pay rise before you thought of upping the player’s Wages. Ha Ha. You had to pay some of it back I would have been ashamed of my self if that happened to me. When do you think you will be off and leave the club in the hands of people that know what the hell they are doing?
