Report: Spanish side have ‘contacted’ Spurs player about a move this summer

Real Betis are continuing to pursue a deal for Giovani Lo Celso this summer, and the Tottenham player has been sending plenty of hints about his future on social media, too.

Having joined Spurs from Betis back in 2019, Lo Celso has sadly never seen his career take off in England and has spent the last two years out on loan with Villarreal.

The Argentine midfielder has steadily rebuilt his reputation during his time out in Spain. As a result, both Barcelona and Real Betis have been linked with a move for Lo Celso this summer (Sport).

However, Ange Postecoglou is taking his time to assess Lo Celso’s merits as he learns about his new squad during pre-season.

Funnily enough, Lo Celso has produced two impressive performances so far for Spurs, leaving his future even more unclear.

While Betis have long been thought to be keen to bring Lo Celso back to the club, it has been suggested the Spanish side do not have the financial resources to do so (AS).

Betis have contacted Lo Celso about summer move

Despite their limited finances, it seems Betis have not stopped chasing a deal and have even touched base with Lo Celso himself.

The latest report comes from Diario de Sevilla, who suggest Lo Celso remains “one of the names” the La Liga outfit are interested in this summer, and that Betis have “already contacted” the player to discuss a return to the club.

While Tottenham’s €25m (£21.4m) valuation makes a deal “unthinkable” for Betis as things stand, Lo Celso is thought to be enticing his former club.

The 27-year-old has been liking social media posts related to Betis and responding to former teammates’ posts.

Spurs Web Opinion

It’s really hard to tell what will happen to Lo Celso this summer now, as he has looked brilliant in pre-season and has two goals to his name. I was all for selling him a month ago, but maybe he has turned a corner and could be of use to us.
