Report: Spurs and Arsenal linked with €40 million-rated Spanish Under-21 international

Portuguese news outlet A Bola claim that Tottenham are among the clubs who remain interested in Benfica left-back Alex Grimaldo.

The 24-year-old is also attracting interest from Napoli and North London rivals Arsenal, with the Spanish Under-21 international said to be valued at around €40million.

Danny Rose has struggled with his form for club and country this season while Ben Davies has seen his chances somewhat limited.

Rose’s future at the club appeared uncertain during the summer when he was left out of the pre-season tour to the Far East to discuss a possible exit (Telegraph).

Fellow left-sided player Ryan Sessegnon is yet to feature for his new side due to the hamstring injury he suffered before moving to the Champions League finalists.

The right-back position has also been a problem area for Tottenham Hotspur this season with Mauricio Pochettino having already utilised a number of players on the right side of this defence.

Spurs fans have already seen Kyle Walker-Peters, Davinson Sanchez, Moussa Sissoko and Serge Auirer all play the position with limited success.

While Aurier is by far the most experienced, he can also be the most unpredictable having been sent off against Southampton and conceding a late penalty against Liverpool.
