Report: Spurs and Arsenal to lock horns in January for £50-million rated defender

Tottenham Hotspur will face Red Star Leipzig in the Champions League knockout stages when the competition resumes in February.

Leipzig currently find themselves at the top of the Bundesliga table and are two points better off than Monchengladbach in second place.

Ahead of the Champions League tie, Tottenham are being linked with a move for Leipzig central defender Dayot Upamecano.

The Daily Star report that Spurs and North London rivals Arsenal are both keen on the French defender and could lock horns in the January transfer window over a £50million deal.

Upamecano is in his third season with the German side and has impressed this season after suffering a knee problem that kept him out of the second half of the last campaign (talkSPORT).

French news outlet La Parisien Upamecano report that Leipzig could be willing to let the 21-year-old leave the club if they get the highly rated 17-year-old Tanguy Kouassi to commit his future to the league leaders.
