Report: Spurs are keeping an eye on Serie A star’s contract developments

Calciomercato.it have claimed that Tottenham Hotspur are one of several Premier League clubs who are watching Federico Chiesa’s situation closely as talks continue between the winger’s entourage and Juventus over a new contract.

CMW were the first to report last month that Tottenham were eying a move for Cheisa and would be willing to meet Juventus‘ asking price for the player in January.

The report explained that since the versatile attacker has a little over 18 months left on his contract at the Allianz Stadium, the Old Lady would be willing to sell him for around €60m (£52.3m).

Contract talks between Juventus and Chiesa

According to Calciomercato.it’s latest update, Juventus did sit down with Chiesa’s entourage on October 26 in the hope of tying down the winger to a new contract.

However, it is explained that the Italy international’s entourage demanded a salary of €7m (£6.1m) per season, which the Serie A giants were not willing to offer.

There are still some issues to be ironed out between the parties, and in the meantime, it is explained that several Premier League clubs, including Spurs, Liverpool, Newcastle, and Man Utd are closely ‘following the developments’.

The publication adds that while the Bianconeri have not named an asking price for Chiesa so far, they could be ‘tempted’ to accept any big offer that arrives from England for the 26-year-old.

Spurs Web Opinion

If Chiesa does not agree a new contract with Juventus before January, there is no doubt that a long list of clubs will be queuing up to bid for the Italian.

I would not be surprised if Tottenham got involved in the bidding war as we do need reinforcements in the wide areas, given the long-term injuries to Solomona and Perisic.
