Report: Spurs fear that midfielder will instead join Liverpool

According to a report in the Daily Mirror, Tottenham Hotspur are concerned that they will lose out on Adrien Rabiot.

The PSG midfielder is out of contract with the French giants in the summer and was heavily linked with a move to North London during the January transfer window (Express).

The paper claims that Spurs chiefs are worried that the French international will opt for a move to Premier League rivals Liverpool or Barcelona and shelved talks last month after his father, Michel died just days before the window closed.

Daniel Levy has a good relationship with the Ligue 1 leaders having already previously signed Serge Aurier and Lucas Moura.

Barcelona were considered favourites to sign the France international however, they were accused of making an illegal approach and stepped back from negotiations.

The Catalan side did confirm their interest in the player via a statement on their official site in December, though maintained innocence regarding any wrongdoing.

There is no doubt that Rabiot will be available on a free transfer this summer, but whether Spurs can finally persuade him to make the move remains to be seen.
