Tottenham Hotspur are reported to have begun talks with Inter Milan over a deal for Milan Skriniar, according to respected football journalist Fabrizio Romano.
It had been previously claimed in July that Tottenham were in talks with the Serie A giants about a possible swap deal involving Tanguy Ndombele and Skriniar (Guardian).
Ndombele experienced a tough first season in North London following his club record £45million move from Lyon having only started twelve Premier League matches in a season marred by injuries and a lack of form.
The Spurs midfielder was singled out for praise by Jose Mourinho after scoring the match winner in last week’s 2-1 Europa League second round qualifier victory against Lokomotiv Plovdiv (talkSPORT).
Romano claims that a swap deal involving Ndombele is no longer on the table with Inter looking to receive €60million for the central defender which is likely to pose a problem for Tottenham in their negotiations.
Tottenham have opened talks for Milan Skriniar as possible target. He’s one of Mourinho’s fav options as new centre-back [no more chances for a swap deal involving Ndombele]. Price tag is the main issue: Inter have asked €60m to sell Skriniar. ⚪️ @DiMarzio @SkySport #THFC #Inter

Have something to tell us about this article?
If it is a case of a dodgy half injured striker, and a lesser centre back OR paying extra to get this guy Skriniar… I’ve seen him play.. get him, even if it means we have to forgo a backup striker for Harry. He is solid granite. Nothing gets through him.
