Report: Spurs keen on player who nearly joined Liverpool last season

Tottenham Hotspur are keen on signing Lyon attacking midfielder Nabil Fekir, according to reports in France.

French newspaper Le Parisien are claiming that Spurs are interested in bringing Fekir to North London, nearly a year after his move to Liverpool broke down.

The Reds were on the brink of signing the France international for £53million last June after agreeing a deal only for it to collapse over fears about the condition of his knee.

Fekir ruptured his ACL four years ago while making his international debut for France and has had knee problems ever since (ESPN).

The 25-year-old has just a year to run on his deal at Ligue 1 side and is expected to be available for a fee lower than what Liverpool offered or risk him walking away from the club the following season on a free transfer.

Spurs are expected to bolster their squad this summer after 18 months of no transfer activity.

Fekir would certainly be a sensible option if Christian Eriksen was to depart the club for Real Madrid (AS).
