Report: Spurs linked with £35m January move for Ajax star

Tottenham Hotpsur are being tipped to enter the January transfer market to seek a new goalkeeper.

The Sun report that Spurs are targeting Ajax goalkeeper Andre Onana as a potential successor to Hugo Lloris.

The Frenchman is not expected to return to training until 2020 after dislocating his elbow in the opening minutes of the recent 3-0 defeat at Brighton.

The injury occured after Lloris had made a handling mistake from a Seagulls cross, which was his second major error in the space of three matches when he had gifted Southampton an equaliser in their match in North London.

The report suggests that Spurs would have to sell Lloris before they are able to bring in Onana, 23, for around £35million due to the Cameroonian not willing to be an understudy.

It is also claimed that Lloris’ time in North London could come to an end next summer and are weighing up their options.

Paulo Gazzaniga impressed during the 2-1 defeat at Liverpool last weekend and is likely to continue to get the opportunity to deptuise for Lloris until January at the earliest.
