Report: Spurs mentioned as possible option for Arsenal player

Tottenham Hotspur have been mentioned as a possible destination for Arsenal’s Ainsley Maitland-Niles.

The Mirror claim that the Gunners have made the 22-year-old available for transfer this summer while highlighting that their North London rivals could be in the market for a new right-back.

The report suggests that Spurs are set to lose one of their options on the right side of their defence with Kyle Walker-Peters tipped to complete a move to Southampton, where he has impressed on loan following his switch in January.

Arsenal, who announced plans to make 55 staff redundant earlier this week are open to allowing the former England under-21 international to depart the Emirates despite manager Mikel Arteta holding the player in high regard.

Everton and Brighton are also interested in Maitland-Niles, who started in the recent FA Cup final against Chelsea.

It seems highly unlikely that Arsenal would want to conduct any business with their fierce rivals while questions would also be raised on whether the player himself would want to cross the divide.
