Report: Spurs offered the chance to sign 49-cap German international

Tottenham Hotspur have been offered the opportunity to sign Julian Draxler from Paris Saint-Germain for a senisbly-priced £35m, according to the Daily Star.

The German international has reportedly been deemed as surplus to requirements in the French capital with the Ligue 1 champions requiring to balance the books to comply with UEFA’s Financial Fair Play rules.

The midfielder has emerged as a possible replacement for Christian Eriksen who revealed to the Danish media yesterday that he would like to leave Tottenham Hotspur this summer for a fresh challenge (Ekstra Bladet).

Draxler featured in 22 of PSG’s 32 league matches last season, scoring three goals and providing eight assists.

He is said to earn around €100,000 a week and is under contract with the Parisiens until 2021 (totalsportek).

The 25-year-old would certainly help to fill any void left by Eriksen should he depart this summer, Draxler already has 49 caps for Germany to his name and has the quality to unlock a defence.

Opinion

While Christian Eriksen would be a huge loss to Tottenham, bringing in a big name such as Draxler would certainly help to appease the fans, especially for just £35m.
