Report: Spurs sent scouts on multiple occasions to watch midfielder in action

Tottenham Hotspur have sent scouts to France on more than one occasion to watch Angers midfielder Baptiste Santamaria.

The Express claim that the player who has been dubbed as French football’s next N’Golo Kante is also on the radar of fellow Premier League side Leicester City.

The report suggests that Brendan Rodgers could be looking to replicate the success they enjoyed when they took Kante from France and propelled him to stardom in the Premier League when he played a pivotal part in helping the Foxes to win the title.

Santamaria also operates as a holding midfielder and has made 30 appearances for Angers in all competitions this season, netting on one occasion (transfermrkt).

Spurs were joined by Everton in watching Santamaria in action before the coronavirus pandemic hit while there is also said to be interest from Seville and Villarreal.

Earlier this week Daniel Levy made the decision to close down the operation of their player recruitment department amid the coronavirus pandemic which also includes the temporary lay off of head scout Steve Hitchen (Daily Mail).
