Report: Spurs set to hold talks with Real Madrid

Tottenham Hotspur are said to be set to hold talks with Real Madrid today over a return to North London for Gareth Bale.

The Daily Mail claim that Jose Mourinho is keen for the Welshman to join his ranks but there are hurdles which need to be overcome to make a deal a possibility.

Bale earns a staggering £600,000 a week at the Spanish giants and is understood to not be willing to lower his wage demands at his next club.

The 30-year-old is under contract with Los Blancos until 2022 with his agent Jonathan Barnett already having ruled out the possibility of his client leaving on a loan deal (BBC).

Bale came close to leaving the Spanish giants in the summer with a move to China only for the deal to be pulled with manager Zinedine Zidane admitting that an exit was on the cards (BBC).

The former Spurs player has made just fifteen appearances in all competitions for Madrid after another injury-hit campaign (transfermarkt).
