Report: Spurs set to miss out on winger over transfer fee

Tottenham Hotspur look set to miss out in their attempt to sign Leeds United winger Jack Clarke.

The Yorkshire Evening Post report that despite the fact there is serious interest from North London in the teenager, the Premier League side are unlikely to meet Leeds’ valuation of the player.

Leeds United have previously told Tottenham Hotspur to pay £20 million for Clarke, according to The Sunday Mirror (May 26, page 69).

Clarke showed huge promise during his first season of first-team football with the Elland Road outfit despite being only 18.

The youngster scored two goals and provided two assists in his 24 appearances last season which has seen him become regarded as one of the best young talents outside of the Premier League.

Clarke’s progress was somewhat halted when he was taken to hospital during a game at Middlesbrough in February when he collapsed whilst on the subs bench and featured mostly afterwards as a replacement.

Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino has an excellent relationship with Leeds boss Marcelo Bielsa having been a player under him for both Argentina and Newell’s Old Boys however a difference in opinion over a fee looks like this potential deal could be on the backburner for a while.
