Report: Spurs set to rival Arsenal in race for Argentina international

Tottenham Hotspur are today being linked with a move for Ajax left-back Nicolas Tagliafico.

The Sun claim that Mauricio Pochettino is weighing up a £15million summer bid for the player, who is also wanted by North London rivals Arsenal along with Barcelona.

Spurs already have Danny Rose and Ben Davies in the left-back berth but could be tempted to make a move for the 26-year-old Argentina international at what would be considered a small outlay in today’s inflated transfer market.

Tagliafico has two years left on his contract and has already been watched on numerous occasions by Spurs scouts this season and has impressed after scoring five goals and managing five further assists in the Dutch league.

Ajax are said to be ready to make a profit on the player who only joined them last summer in a £3.6million deal from Independiente.

Should Tagliafico make the switch, he would join Christian Eriksen, Davinson Sanchez, Jan Vertonghen and Toby Alderweireld in the former Ajax contingent in North London.

Speaking to reporters about Spurs’ reported interest, Tagliafico said: It’s great that they talk about me, because it means things are going well.

“But I can only focus on the present.”
