Report: Spurs suffer injury blow ahead of RB Leipzig second leg clash

Tottenham Hotspur look set to be without the services of recent signing Steven Bergwijn for tomorrow night’s Champions League tie against RB Leipzig.

The winger who made the move to North London from PSV Eindhoven in January was nowhere to be seen on the Hotspur Way pitch this morning when his team mates took part in a training session prior to boarding their flight to Germany later today.

The Dutch international has to play the full 90 minutes of Saturday’s 1-1 draw at Burnley and picked up an ankle problem which left him hobbling off the Turf Moor pitch following the final whistle.

Spurs head coach Jose Mourinho admitted after the match that Bergwijn was struggling with injury (Football.London).

The Evening Standard have now confirmed that the player will miss out on the second leg of the Champions League tie which represents a significant blow to the club’s hopes of progressing to the quarter final stage.
