Report: Spurs weighing up move for former Arsenal academy product

Tottenham Hotspur are reported to be considering making a summer move for Newcastle United midfielder Isaac Hayden.

The Chronicle are reporting that Chelmsford-born player is keen to leave Newcastle for family reasons and has made his feelings known to manager Rafa Benitez.

Hayden’s daughter was born prematurely and he wants to be closer to his fiancee for the regular medical check-ups which has seen him travel hundreds of miles every week between Newcastle and his home (Chronicle).

Crystal Palace and West Ham United are also said to be monitoring the situation which will give Hayden the opportunity to move back closer to the south.

The 24-year-old started his career at Arsenal but his opportunities were limited to outings in the League Cup. After enjoying a season-long loan at Hull City he joined Newcastle in July 2016 on a five-year deal for an undisclosed fee (BBC).

The report values the midfielder at around £15-£20million.
