Report: The five Tottenham players who are out of contract next summer

There are likely to be more players leaving the Tottenham Hotspur squad within the next year, as Ange Postecoglou continues to shape the team in his image. Now we take a look at five players who are out of contract next summer.

It was a busy summer for Spurs ahead of the 2023/24 campaign, with Ange Postecoglou making seven new signings. James Maddison, Micky van de Ven and Guglielmo Vicario were among them, and have been incredibly successful in the early days of their Tottenham careers.

Meanwhile, we saw club legend Harry Kane depart for Bayern Munich, and Heung-min Son take on the captain’s armband.

So far, Postecoglou’s system has proven to be pretty successful and the players have adapted to Ange-ball very quickly. But, there is still work to be done, both in January, and the summer.

Who is out of contract at Spurs next summer?

Speaking of the summer, a report from TeamTalk has assessed the future of Hugo Lloris, Fraser Forster, Brandon Austin, Ivan Perisic, and Eric Dier, all of whom are out of contract at the end of this season.

There could be big changes in the goalkeeping department next summer for Spurs, with Lloris one of three goalkeepers approaching the end of their contracts. Despite strong speculation linking him away this summer, the Frenchman remains at the club.

As things stand, Lloris “continues to train” with the first team, he is yet to be involved in any matchday squad and looks highly likely to leave within the next seven months. Real Betis are thought to be keen to sign the 36-year-old in January (Fichajes).

The futures of Brandon Austin and Fraser Forster are less clear. Both have been named among the substitutes this season, though the latter does have some minutes under his belt from the Carabao Cup.

While Forster seemingly “has no plans to hang up his gloves,” it remains to be seen whether he is happy enough to stay at Spurs as a second-choice goalkeeper. Meanwhile, Austin could well look to secure a move “in search of regular first-team football,” with his path at Spurs clearly blocked.

One of the higher-profile exits in the pipeline at Tottenham is that of Eric Dier. The 29-year-old has been with the club since 2014 and is now one of the longest-serving members of the squad, but has fallen out of favour of late.

Despite featuring recently in the absence of Cristian Romero and Micky van de Ven, Dier has been strongly linked with a move abroad as he approaches the end of his current deal.

And lastly, Ivan Perisic, who is set to be out injured for the rest of the season and “may have played his final game” for the Lilywhites already. It is said the veteran is keen to return to Croatia to join his boyhood club, Hajduk Split and that Spurs will not object to this (Football Insider).

Spurs Web Opinion

The only player I can see sticking around out of this list is Fraser Forster. He has been a dependable number two so far, and is perhaps happy enough with his role at the club.

Lloris and Perisic probably want to end their careers back in their native lands, while Austin and Dier will want to play regular football.
