Report: Tottenham could battle Barcelona for 30-year-old’s signature

Fichajes.net have claimed that Barcelona might have to contend with competition from Tottenham Hotspur for Inter Milan midfielder Marcelo Brozovic.

Earlier this week, Inter Live reported that Inter could cash in on Brozovic during the summer transfer window, given their need to raise funds to offset their losses.

The report named Spurs as the club who are ‘most interested’ in the Croat and added that the Premier League side could snap up the player in an effort to convince Antonio Conte to sign a new contract.

Fichajes.net have now revealed that Barcelona want to add reinforcements in midfield, with Brozovic one of the names on the club’s radar.

The report explains that the Catalan giants tried to sign the 30-year-old January and were willing to offer Franck Kessie to Inter as part of the deal but the Nerazzurri refused the offer.

Xavi Hernandez’s men are expected to make another attempt to sign Brozovic in the summer but it is asserted that they could face competition from Tottenham this time around.

The publication states that Spurs see the Inter star as ‘an ideal option’ to boost their midfield ranks in the summer.

Brozovic is not of the age profile that Tottenham usually go for but the club showed with their signing of Perisic last summer that they are willing to sign experienced players without much resale value if Conte sees a specific player as being a uniquely good fit for his system.
