Report: Tottenham man expected to leave next summer – Serie A club want him

According to a report in Roma Metropolitan Magazine, Eric Dier is only expected to leave Tottenham Hotspur when his contract runs out next summer.

Last month, several Italian outlets named Dier as AS Roma’s top centre-back target, with Jose Mourinho alleged to be keen on reuniting with the Tottenham man (TMW).

However, over the last week, multiple publications, including Gazzetta dello Sport and Corriere dello Sport (via Sport Witness), have suggested that the Serie A club’s interest in the 29-year-old had cooled.

The latter explained that this was because of the England international’s lack of game time at Tottenham this season, with many at the Italian capital having doubts over whether he could make an instant impact at the Stadio Olimpico.

January move not on the cards for Eric Dier

Roma Metropolitan Magazine has now become the latest outlet to report on the Giallorossi’s pursuit of the Spurs star.

They name Dier among the names who are ‘strongly sought after’ by Roma technical director Tiago Pinto, who has been tasked with adding a new centre-back to the squad next month.

However, the publication asserts that the former Sporting Lisbon man ‘will leave the London club’ in June, thus seemingly suggesting that he is not an option for next month’s transfer window.

Dier might have previously held out some hope that he might be able to force his way into Postecoglou’s plans if he is handed enough opportunities.

However, now that it has become clear that it is not going to happen, the 29-year-old will likely re-assess his future and give serious thought about a January exit.
