Report: Tottenham offered the chance to sign Brazilian/Spanish international

Tottenham Hotspur have been offered the chance to sign former Chelsea striker Diego Costa, according to the Daily Star.

The Brazilian international, who later changed his alliegance to the Spanish national team (talkSPORT) has been deemed as surplus to requirements at Atletico Madrid with the La Liga side prepared to listen to offers.

Costa has previously played under Mourinho during their time together at Stamford Bridge where he won the Premier League. The pair are still said to keep a close relationship with the 31-year-old only having a year to run on his contract at the Wanda Metropolitana.

Tottenham failed to bring in a striker during the January transfer window after Harry Kane suffered a hamstring tear on New Year’s Day and their problems were increased when Heung-min Son fractured his arm in February which left Mourinho without a senior out and out striker to lead the line.

Atletico are said to be keen to cash in this summer rather than risk him leaving as a free agent in a year’s time.
