Report: Transfer woe for Spurs as they look set to miss out on highly-rated prospect

The transfer window may have only just opened but it looks as if Tottenham Hotspur could already have missed out on a rumoured transfer target.

Bolton Wanderers midfielder Luca Connell is regarded as one of the brightest young talents outside of the Premier League and is available this summer for next to nothing with just ‘training compensation’ required to be paid after the 18-year-old’s contract expired.

Football Insider are reporting that Wolves are leading the race for the player who has also caught the attention of Spurs.

The report claims that Spurs have already offered a contract to the Republic of Ireland youth international, but is currently in discussions with Wolves over a potential switch to Molineux.

Connell can operate as a left-back and also as a holding midfielder and made 12 appearances for the financially stricken Trotters since breaking into the first team in January.

It is refreshing to see that Spurs are still looking to recruit young talent considering Mauricio Pochettino’s track record in getting the full potential out of his players. Unfortunately this looks as if it could be one who won’t be on their way to North London.
