Report: Two Spurs stars were set to give club ultimatum if Conte was not sacked

According to TyC Sports reporter, Gaston Edul (as relayed by The Daily Express), Cristian Romero and Richarlison were set to tell Tottenham that they would consider their futures at the club if Antonio Conte had not been sacked.

In the days following Conte’s departure, several reports have indicated that there was plenty of discontent behind the scenes at the club over the last few months.

The Evening Standard reported on Monday that the Tottenham players had grown tired of the Italian’s tendency to shift blame towards them publicly following defeats.

Meanwhile, The Daily Mail claimed on Tuesday that some senior players had even pleaded with Conte to take the handbrake off back in January as they felt that the overly cautious approach was the main cause of the team’s struggles.

Edul has now revealed that Richarlison and Romero had grown so frustrated with the recently departed Spurs head coach over the last few months that they were prepared to hand the club an ultimatum in an effort to force the 53-year-old out.

It is alleged that the Brazilian and the Argentine were prepared to consider their futures in N17 if Conte stayed on as head coach.

However, Richarlison has since come out and strongly denied such allegations, labelling the journalism as nothing more than lies.
