Tottenham lost 2-1 to Burnley on Saturday leaving their title hopes in tatters. Given Liverpool and Manchester City’s form this season, Spurs had to try and win all their games to have a chance of winning the title.
It now looks like it could be yet another trophy-less season for Pochettino’s men with the Champions League looking like their best shot. After Tottenham’s loss against Burnley, one Spurs fan called into Radio 5 Live (Saturday, February 23rd, 20:11) and said that he believed Pochettino’s time at Spurs had run out.
While Kristy Gallacher sympathised with the fan’s point of view, it didn’t sit well with Robbie Savage. The former Premier League midfielder said that Spurs fans should be grateful to Pochettino for how he has transformed the club.
Savage said, “All of sudden Spurs fans have got a glimmer of winning stuff. Let’s be fair when was the last time you thought as a Spurs fan that you were challenging for the Premier League and you’re thinking we can be in the Champions League quarter final.”
The former midfielder then took issue with the fact that Gallacher agreed with the fan but she insisted that she had merely said that she understood the fan’s frustration.
