Spurs confirm player has undergone surgery

Tottenham Hotspur have confirmed that Hugo Lloris has undergone surgery on his left elbow.

Following further investigations, it was advised by the medical team that he should go under the knife after the elbow remained unstable.

The French international dislocated his elbow in the opening minutes of the 3-0 defeat to Brighton when he misjudged a cross and dropped the ball near his goal line and fell awkwardly into the back of his own net.

Paulo Gazzaniga, who is deputising for Lloris has impressed during his stint as understudy and produced a vital save with his feet during last night’s Champions League clash at Red Star Belgrade while the score was still level at 0-0.

The absence of Lloris also saw Spurs move to re-sign Michel Vorm on a free transfer after his contract expired with the North London club at the end of last season.

Surgery is not expected to delay Lloris’ comeback with the club confirming that he remains on track to return to training in early 2020.
